A Prayer to Not be Seen

Father, help me to find ways to do good this week without drawing attention to myself. Help me to honor and glorify you by helping others anonymously. May you receive the credit for any good that I do. In Jesus' name, amen.

Praying for Brandon

At http://sscocrogers.org/jackie/?p=550, minister Jackie Chesnutt has requested prayers for a man name Brandon. Brandon was taught about Jesus Christ by Jackie and his wife Mackie when he was a child, but he went in the wrong direction as he grew older. He is facing death for murdering another person.

Please pray for Brandon to receive the gospel of Christ so that he may be forgiven.
Please pray for the Christians who will enter the prison in an effort to reach him before it is too late.
Please pray for the family and friends of his victim. They will need the peace of God, too.

Thanks for praying.

A Prayer for Islamic Terrorists

Father,
Open the eyes of the terrorists who have been misled into thinking that they are serving you by preying on the innocent, the weak, and the vulnerable. Let them see their sins. Help them to understand the horrible fate awaiting them if they refuse to turn to you for forgiveness. Let them see the true God and become disillusioned with their false concept of who you are. Give them sleepless nights and anxious days until the burden of their sins is too much for them to handle.

Then, show them your grace and mercy. Let them see what Jesus Christ has done for them. Help them to recognize him as your Son. Bring them to faith in Christ. Grant them changed hearts and minds. Help them to turn away from their sins. Let them submit to baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit so that they can bury their sinful lives and start new lives of freedom and forgiveness. Save them.

In the name of Jesus, amen.

A Prayer of Hope

"For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way" (Ephesians 1:15-23).

Christ's Prayer for Believers

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

"Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.

"Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them" (John 17:20-26).

Thank You For Jesus

Father,
Thank you for Jesus.
Thank you for seeing our sins and for sending us a Savior.
Thank you for promising a Messiah in the Old Testament.
Thank you for fulfilling your promises in the life of Christ.
Thank you for the incarnation, when deity and humanity came together in Jesus' conception.
Thank you for Jesus' sinless life.
Thank you for his compassion toward us in our sinful lives.
Thank you for his willingness and ability to be our propitiation, the one who would turn aside your wrath and take away our sins.
Thank you for Christ's death on the cross.
Thank you for his resurrection.
Thank you for Jesus' appearances to his disciples so that his resurrection would not be a secret.
Thank you for accepting him back into heaven.
Thank you for sending his Spirit to empower and indwell his church.
Thank you for Jesus' promised return to earth for us.
Thank you for the good news of his life, death, and resurrection that has changed our lives and given us hope as we have accepted and believed it.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

The Cry of the Poor

"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor,
he too will cry out and not be answered" (Proverbs 21:13).

Father, help me to be sensitive to people in need. Help me to hear their cries, whether they are near to me or across the ocean. Help me to help them. In Jesus Christ's name, amen.

If you have a reason to praise God or a prayer request, please share it in the comments section. Thanks!
